Textile Conservation, University of Glasgow

I grew up in the Outer Hebrides where textiles such as Harris Tweed are culturally and economically important. As a result, I have always enjoyed sewing, knitting and weaving and, after beginning a career in finance, I realised I wanted to do something more firmly rooted in my interests. Textile conservation, which balances practical work with a scientific and ethical appreciation of historic objects, offered the perfect means to do so.

Funding from The Cross Trust enabled me to take up a place on the Glasgow programme and turn a life-long interest in textiles into a viable career. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity.
